A Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive case study
An original immersive 180° western shot on the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive on the open trails and working ranches of Aspen, Colorado.
Synopsis
Ellie, a young woman searching for meaning, and Wade, a rancher living by old values, form a friendship through open roads, horses, and ranch life in Aspen, Colorado. A story about slowing down, told at the pace of hoofbeats.
Production story
The film’s signature rider-POV sequences were shot at true eye height from an off-road Polaris RZR carrying a Pursuit Crane with a custom damping system — keeping the image smooth and comfortable for immersive viewing even on rough mountain trails.
There are no green screens and no artificial sets: every frame is real ranch country. The URSA Cine Immersive’s built-in ND filters kept exposure in check under fast-changing Colorado light, from valley shade to alpine sun.
Technical credits
“The URSA Cine Immersive gave us the flexibility of a true cinema camera with the practical usability needed for immersive field production.”
